Juventus' Daniele Rugani Feeling 'Lucky' Following Early Coronavirus Diagnosis
Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani has considered himself 'lucky' as he continues to make a recovery after testing positive for coronavirus.
News broke of Rugani's test last week, and was the first of several high-profile players to go into self isolation following a confirmed diagnosis.
And speaking to Juventus' in-house television channel, has said that he has not suffered with any severe symptoms.
"I want to reassure everyone by saying that I am fine. I have always been quite well. I have not had the serious symptoms mentioned." Rugani said, as quoted by Goal.
"I consider myself lucky even if it was a heavy blow also because I was the first in our environment [and] served to raise the awareness of all those who had not understood the seriousness of the problem."
Rugani mentioned that he has been passing the time during his isolation by watching Peaky Blinders and reading the Harry Potter novels - helping him improve his English.
However, being in isolation has taken a certain toll on the 25-year-old, and when asked what he misses most, he replied with: "Embracing my loved ones.
"I am alone in the hotel and I will have to stay a little longer. The isolation is long and boring, for me as for everyone, so as soon as I go out, I will go to the people I miss and love."
Rugani is not the only Serie A player who has tested positive with coronavirus, with Sampdoria's Manolo Gabbiadini, Omar Colley, Albin Ekdal and Antonino La Gumina as well as Fiorentina's Germán Pezzella and Patrick Cutrone also now in self isolation.
There has been a complete lockdown in Italy with the government putting strict measures in place in order to control the spread of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, UEFA are set to meet on Tuesday to discuss a possible postponement to this summer's European Championship.
